Health Minister: 372 shipments of medicine sent to provinces in 2013 Oct 14, 2013 #Damascus, (#SANA) – Health Minister Dr. Saad al-Nayef affirmed that the Ministry will continue to provide medicine to all provinces in order to ensure that citizens receive medical services. During a tour of Ebn al-Nafis, Nephrology and Ocular Surgery Hospitals on Monday, al-Nayef said that 372 shipments of medicine have been sent to provinces since the beginning of 2013, the most recent one having been sent to Aleppo and consisting of 45 tons of medical supplies, equipment and medicine. He noted that there is a shortage of certain types of medicine due to economic sanctions on Syria and constant terrorist attacks on convoys transporting medicine, asserting that the government is working to deal with these shortages. Al-Nayef affirmed that hospirals are prepared to receive all emergency cases during Eid al-Adha holiday, and that the Ministry is working to repair hospitals damaged by terrorists, noting that 32 hospitals out of more than 60 attacked by terrorists have been put out of commission.
