Health Minister Confirms ‘Kidnap’ & ‘Killing’ of Ebola - TopicsExpress

Health Minister Confirms ‘Kidnap’ & ‘Killing’ of Ebola Patients In her desperate attempt to save face and discredit the investigative piece published by the New People Online on Tuesday, the Health and Sanitation Minister, Miatta Kargbo ended up justifying the fears of the Kissi Teng residence and by extension the authenticity of the published news. Though the Minister vehemently denied ordering the kidnap and secret killing of ebola patients in that part of the country, she could not withstand the compelling urge to confirm that the people of Kailahun were genuinely afraid that their sick relatives were being kidnapped and secretly killed by the medical team she sent. Excerpts from the Minister’s Cocorioko interview follows: “The gullible people (of Kailahun) have been made to believe that these victims do not die of the disease but are killed. They were therefore afraid that if their relatives were taken to Kenema, they will die….Guerkedu, which was the epicenter of the Ebola outbreak in Guinea, is only 3 miles away from Kissy Teng. The people of Kissy Teng heard that all the patients brought to Guerkedu died. That is why they are afraid that their relatives would die too if taken to Kenema”. Though she decided to describe the people of Kailahun as gullible (munku), her statement clearly validates the New People post which clearly quoted sources from Kailahun (residents and relatives of the sick people) to state that the Minister could be guilty of ordering the kidnap and murder of the ebola patients. The excerpt from the New People article which the Health Minister has now justified in her Cocorioko interview follows: “If reports emanating from the eastern part of Sierra Leone from credible sources are anything to go by, then the Health Minister, Miatta Kargbo, is GUILTY of ordering the kidnap and possible secret killing of dying ebola virus patients.” Editor’s Note: Since the Minister herself has proved religious enough to confess that the fears of kidnap and murder were genuine, the New People Online has decided not to respond to her ‘political ranting’ alleging that our Global Managing Editor, Abdul Fonti, could be guilty of inciting the residents of Kailahun and hampering efforts of medical staff to contain the disease. Let her keep contradicting herself (Vindicating the write up but blasting the writer at the same time hahaha). The New People Editor is now feeling proud and fulfilled because his ‘alarming’ publication has immensely contributed to the ‘serious action’ that is now being taken to save the lives of the people of Kailahun and by extension the general populace of Sierra Leone that stood the risk of contracting the rampaging deadly virus which the Health Ministry had wanted to keep secret while people were dying.
