Heard then saw another hummingbird this morning. It was near the feeder I think of as the travelers feeder, on the left side of the porch just to one side of the birdbath. Nine times out of ten transients stop at that one. Hector barked briefly at something and I had to let Roger out to see. He came right back in. It is just after nine a.m. and time for the boys mid morning nap. They have a fairly rigid schedule of naps they take throughout the day, but they are up to the task. First, however, Hector has to bark at something else and Roger goes out tot investigate. From the sound of Hectors objections, it is visitors from across the street, including Hectors daughter. Only a few barks are necessary. Earlier I heard Spirit, next door, sounding off and it seems they came to his place first. Wherever squirrels concentrate the neighborhood pack tends to congregate. Wally (Walker), in particular, loves the chase. Roger has decided to return to his schedule in the pile of old dog beds at the end of the porch, while Hector is content to snooze at the top of the front ramp. I went out and gave each a toothbrush chewy. There has been no sound from the houseguest since early last night. Ive checked and none of the traps has been sprung, so perhaps it got the hint and took a powder. Ill set one live trap with sunflower seeds in it near the kitchen window where I feed the birds. Some seeds fall on the floor and if theres a rodent in the house it very likely comes there. Roger has decided that he prefers his pillow bed inside. Time to get up and close the door again.
