Heartwarming mockumentary Derek returns to Netflix at the end of May. Ricky Gervais calls Derek probably my favourite thing of everything Ive done. Derek is unlike any other character on tv. He is a tender, honest, gentle man. A complete innocent without a bad bone in his body. His love for the people he cares for, and for his job at the retirement home where Derek is set, shines through. He works day to day with friend and landlord Dougie, best friend Hannah and Kev, who is unexplainable - youll see! The first series gained some negative reviews, arguing that Gervais was being cruel and making fun of Derek. I couldnt disagree more. The programme brings attention to a group of people that are excluded and unwanted by society as a whole, and even sometimes their own families. To get Derek you need to open your heart and actually watch it. So go to Netflix and watch series 1. Series 2 is streamed May 30. You wont regret it! #derek #rickygervais
