Heartwood reviews are alway interesting. At Heartwood we do not - TopicsExpress

Heartwood reviews are alway interesting. At Heartwood we do not produce a typical Heartwood style We endeavour to produce differing whiskies for differing tastes. We make no apologies. Though they are all high strength. That is the Heartwood consistency. We own 20 different styles of whisky. I had a Heartwood fan come up and say to me that The Four Corners of Ross Batch 2 was the best whisky I had produced and another saying the Beagle Batch 2 was the best whisky I had produced (They bought 6). I had another say that the Four Corners of Ross sucked and was too sweet and another say the Beagle was too sweet, bring back the Convicts. (The Convicts are coming) A good argument over whisky is a positive. We would prefer Heartwood to start an argument (non violent) than to be totally ignored. (Sounds a bit Oscar Wilde ish) The Beagle and the Four Corners of Ross were deliberately made to be sweet and appeal to a certain palate. The Convicts are big and fruity, a little dry and not too sweet. Look out for the CONVICT Resurrection. The draft label is attached. The Lost Convict will not necessarily appeal to those that like a sweeter whisky. It is feisty and a little dry. And a beautiful colour, see attached burnished Gold. Those whiskies that are influenced by bourbon cask are typically sweet. The whiskies influenced by sherry (we have 12 Oloroso barrels maturing) and port are typically more complexed and dryer on the finish. All good As mentioned before we do not have a house style and will continue to produce a variety of different styles to appeal to different palates. We are currently trying to produce a rosebankesk, lowland style of whisky. (We may just produce a lighter style of Australian whisky. Who knows?) Some releases will suck to some and be considered as the nectar of the gods by others. This is all good. If you like it let us know. if you dont let us know. Just know that we will endeavour to produce a range of whiskies that appeal to a range of palates, enjoying the challenge as we go.
