**Heat to Continue -- Drier Air to Arrive** Is this heat unusual? Not really. We have had above average temperatures much of the summer -- but not excessive.We have had much warmer heat spells in the past. And this summer wont come close to record high temps. Right now we are in a two week window when our average high temperature is at its highest - so hot weather is the norm. What is unusual is the extended period of time that we have had a sub tropical, monsoonal flow which brings humid air and thunderstorms to the Sierra. This in itself is not unusual for this time of year - but to have a nearly constant pattern like this over 4-6 weeks is very unusual. I cant remember a summer in the past 35 years that has brought a nearly daily thunderstorm threat to the Sierra for two months straight. Tomorrow will be hot again. But the flow of humid air is finally getting cut off, and this should help. It will mean cooler overnight lows and a more comfortable heat. Temps should cool down slightly for the weekend, but still be in the low 90s.
