Heath Kelley, Covington County Deputy Sheriff, age 46, of Red Level died unexpectedly Friday April 18, 2014 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident while in the line of duty. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Andalusia. The casket will be placed in the church one hour prior to services. The Covington County Sheriff’s Department will serve as honor guards. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday at the First Baptist Church of Andalusia. A 1985 graduate of Red Level High School, Deputy Kelley joined the Covington County Sheriff’s Department 8 years ago. He had worked as a jailer before becoming a road deputy. He loved life. Some of his favorite things were camping and horses, but most of all he loved his wife, children and grandchildren. Survivors will include his wife, Anita Kelley of Red Level Son, Ty (Carrie) Kelley of the Onycha community Daughters, Skylar (Luigi) Raggazoni of Hoover Jennifer Kelley of Red Level Father, William Kelley of Red Level Brother, Tim Kelley of Red Level Grandchildren, Taya Kelley, Taylor Kelley, Lucas Raggazoni He was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Kelley. Serving as pallbearers will be Lamar Stokes, Curtis Chesser, Tony Ellison, Tracy Turner, Cliff Potrey and Bo Odom. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Danny Well, W. C. Odom and the Covington County Sheriff’s Department and officers with the Alabama State Troopers.
