Heavy snowfall predicted in Kashmir for four days: The meteorological department of Jammu and Kashmir has predicted four-day long snowfall period in the State starting Saturday. The prediction has been done in view of the likelihood of fresh western disturbance over the State. According to an official statement, under the influence of the western disturbance, moderate to heavy rain / snowfall would occur at many places of the State on Saturday and Sunday, while it would occur at most places on Monday and Tuesday. That is, the period would last from March 15 to March 18. Moreover, during this period heavy to very heavy rain / snowfall would occur at isolated places over the State, the statement read adding that thunder squall accompanies by hailstorm is also likely at these places. Pertinently, the State recently witnessed one of the hardest snowfall season in a decade. The aftereffects of the spell are still prevalent in parts of the State. The snowfall also affected the roads, electricity, and communication services.
