Hello Everyone, Alumni and friends: We need your help! The Department of Education is at it again. Just when it looks like things are going in the right direction, along comes the Department of Ed to tell you: “Not so!” After working hard all year to improve our delivery of instruction to our students, after earning a “Proficient/Effective” rating from the joint State and City panel that reviewed our school this year, along comes the Dept of Ed. to say, “None of that counts, none of that is important. We’re taking part of your building for our own purposes regardless of what harm it causes to your current students or how much it sets back your improvement progress. They couldn’t close us through “Turnaround.” They were stopped from co-locating a school in our midst for September because we are about 150% utilized. But for next year now, they are squeezing down our incoming class by about 484 so they can co-locate in 2014-2015. This will cause a $3 million hole in our budget and result in excessing about 30 members. We have placed a petition to the Chancellor and the Office Portfolio Management on change.org. We are fighting to prevent co-location for Sept 2014. We must restore our incoming class to its traditional size to prevent excessing 30 members and a serious budget gap. You can help us! Please go to licbulldogs.net and sign our petition, asking them NOT to co-locate. Please share that address with your staff. After you sign, you can read the Daily News article about our plight. Please read this article on the licbulldogs.net website nydailynews/new-york/queens/city-cut-enroll-emt-anmd-funds-long-island-city-hs-article-1.1373283 What can I do? Sign the petition! Where is it? licbulldogs.net and you can read the Daily News Article on the site also.
