Hello Everyone!!! It would seem that summer was over tonight by the cooler temps we had---nice though to have a break from the heat! We are so thankful for our team who volunteers --especially as it gets colder--thanks guys!! There usually seems at least one thing that stands out on most Fridays and tonight was no different. We saw a couple who was deeply hurting because of some personal issues, heard from a friend that their daughter had a miscarriage (second one), saw a man who had nothing but a jacket to keep warm by, another friend who will be doing the right thing and turning himself in----but for tonight had to again sleep outside, saw our friend who just got out of the hospital with heart issues......still wearing the hospital band and yet no complaints. Saw several friends who shared how many days sober they are and one who shouldnt be alive because he tried to take his life several months back and yet tonight stood with tears running down face saying almost in trying to convince himself that it was going to be ok..... so whats the ONE thing that seemed to ring true?......people refusing to give up.........people who are in a desperate state whether its emotionally, physically or even spiritually but still refuse to let go of the possibility of hope...the possibility that God is working on their behalf and dare to take God at his word. Seeing our friend talk tonight as he cried how he shouldnt be alive----even talked about the day he tried to kill himself....and yet he stood broken in front of us, nervous about what the future is, uncertain of his health issues and yet as he stood by his friend who is his help.....he STILL smiled.....he STILL laughed and he STILL stood tall..... Tonight the man who nothing but his jacket ended up getting a brand new sleeping bag and socks but only because his friend made him take it...he still wouldnt ask...even when we asked how he kept warm he said I just hunker down --wrapped up in my jacket and yet still didnt ask for anything....and yet there he sat with others at our first stop... talking and enjoying the nice night---again no complaints when he had every right to. It was nice to know when we left him he had a warm sleeping bag to sleep in.... The Bible says we can do all through things through Christ who strengthens us and that is always apparent on Friday nights.....even our friend who will turn himself in.....had his tent ruined a couple weeks back and had woke up to a man over him with a hatchet still tonight left us after he hugged everyone --thanking us and saying God bless you.....again what strength---refusing to give up!!! Tonight we gave away everything you can imagine tangibly and yet were even more hopeful that the simple act of just showing up made a difference for someone---and we ourselves can learn even more from our friends who inspire us each week...... Thankyou everyone for the donations this week---sleeping bags and tents, cough drops, canned goods, hygiene items, socks and so much more......trust me when we say its not a hand out it literally is a hand up for them and most people do not ask we have to force them!!!! God is good- He is alive and is working and so many are off the streets from when we first almost 3 years ago----some we miss but yet are thankful they are starting anew and that is what it is all about----some starting new in their housing, some in their walk with God and some both..... and the rest ....well God isnt finished with them nor us for that matter!! Have a great week everyone--thanks to Zianos Italian Eatery, Mjs apparel, Auburn Massage center, Mark and lynn Stebing, Sarah lapadot, Laura Richards, Lori and Chris Will, Catherine, Josh Myers, todd plimpton, Sheila, Mike Mathias, Nick Mcbride, Dennis Brown, Traci and Dale Bullion,Emily Bell, Grace summit church, Pathway community church, Karen Gaul, St Martins soup kitchen,Natalie and Tyler Ward, Linda Wyrick, Jamie and Melanie Perlich, and again for all of you who drop off items that do not leave a name.....THANKYOU!!!!!!!!
