Hello Everyone....can we offer some kind support and your experience to help Brenda.....Thank you as always :-) Brenda Hamlin Kirk Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give my husband and I some thoughts about our son. He is four and was diagnosed a year ago next month. We have been through 5 medications thus far (not counting our emergency meds) and nothing has worked. For the first few weeks it is great minus side effects then it is like he builds an immunity and the seizures start again. The majority are nocturnal seizures but he also has absence and drop seizures during the day as well. We are trying to find out about alternative treatments and more info about VNS and the outcomes. Our doctor has yet to discuss any other treatments than meds. But this darling child is on these meds and still having seizures and now has quit sweating since starting Topamax and we live in a humid/hot climate in summer which worries us. He also has cognitive issues both from the seizures and meds. He is afraid to sleep as we are because the seizures really effect his breathing. Thanks in advance.
