Hello Facebook Friends, As most of you know, I really dont post on Facebook very often. Tonight, Im making an exception. There is an organization in Columbus whose sole purpose is to provide young middle and high school instrumentalists the opportunity to participate in a very high quality musical experience in an orchestral setting. That organization is the Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus. Im a part of this organization, not because I have a child in the orchestra but because I believe in what musical performance can do for kids. We all know that the arts uplift everyone involved - performer and spectator alike. This non-profit is helping to build the future of the musical arts in Columbus and I hope you will join me in supporting it. If you go the YOGC Facebook page, or their website, youll see many opportunities to participate with musical events and fundraisers. There is one unique sub-group that I invite you especially to support. The YOGC is creating a Brass Quintet made up of members of the orchestra who will receive additional instruction from faculty of the Schwob School of Music. They will audition for this privilege and will be encouraged to be available for various functions and events around Columbus. The students will very much appreciate your support, as will I.
