Hello Hollins sisters. I am in need of a connection for an expert, possibly an expert on women’s studies with an emphasis on violence and race relations. My best friend’s sister was one of three women discovered last weekend that was brutally murdered by the serial killer in East Cleveland, Ohio. Community family and friends are grieving this unfathomable loss. My dear friend (a sister to me) and her family are planning services, handling the vultures ( ahem, “media”), etc. She spoke at a neighborhood rally held just days after her sister was identified as a victim. With limited time and in a grieving state my friend did some research online in an effort to use the opportunity to suggest safe practices (especially relevant for living in a notoriously dangerous neighborhood), made some self defense suggestions to flee an abductor and called for community action from its organizers and the public. I am so proud of my friend for gathering the strength to try and raise these important issues during a time of unfathomable grief. I am writing to ask for any reputable people I can speak with, publications, charities, organizations, etc. that can offer progressive facts, statistics and safe practices regarding violence against women with an emphasis on poor communities and race relations.
