Hello. In rare moments like these, allow me to share an opinion that has been aching to be expressed for sometime now. As a songwriter/musician/audio recording producer for a career to back me up, I wish to share my thoughts to my peers as well as to those who wish to take the same route I took in my journey through the music world. I admit that I absorbed a lot of Foreign influence in my growth as a musician. I once marveled at my western music icons that generated my interest in music. Band music. No formal music school trainning. Raw talent that simply grew through the years. Love for playing with the Combo. Now, looking back at my past accomplishments ( awards, citations, foreign exposures, etc. ), I can say that God has been good to me, and I continue to give Him back the glory for as long as I live. Now, heres a little message I wish to express. Every band seems to be sharing the same music genre evrywhere! Jazz, retro, ballroom, pop, rock, etc. Growth in our own music has somehow stopped. At parang walang tutunguhan. Sayang. Sana kahit papano, tanggalin na natin ang copycat tag na narinig ko once upon a time from a foreign musician when it comes to Filipino musicians. Yes, we are world renowned for our talents. Pero our creativity is expressed only by a few. Sayang. Start with a song. Add another, and another. Go OPM. Be Proud of your own music. Then watch respect to slowly flow in. Grow with our own music and watch your income grow. Try. Be patient. Its the song and the delivery that counts. Try, pare. And God will do the rest as you glorify Him with your works. Pray. God bless.
