Hello, It has been a while since you have had an update about the new Befriending Service, so I would like to let you all know we all still making very good progress in establishing the new service; Myself and Colin have had meetings with the NHS (Connaught House), Trinity (who have offered us rooms as our hub office in the future), Winchester Nightshelter, Cllr Tony Coates, Tez Cook (DAAT and previously a member of the steering group) and established what our joint working protocol will be in the future with these organisations and also recieved some very sound advice too. We have yet to meet a couple of other key people such as Elizabeth at the Wellbeing Centre and Bruce. With regards to the documentation side of things and funding, I have compiled a rough Constituted document, a budget proposal including our estimated expenditure and income based on the previous MHBS. Colin and I also had a meeting with BID (Business Improvement District) who are very for what we are doing and are more than happy to accept a budget proposal from us (when it is finalised) and pitch it to 844 companies. Our aim is to get local organisations to fund us (roughly 10-12 companies) that have a sensitivty to Mental Health in particular (which should be most businesses!) whether it be family/employers who have been off work due to Mental Health or just businesses who have great passion in this area - this idea is based on the aim to ensure the MHABS does have longevity. A leaflet is in the making to hand out around Winchester and local organisations to raise awareness of the new and upcoming service. I will leave it short until the next email when there will be further updates to be given. I would greatly appreciate feedback from you on the future MHABS, it is important throughout this process we get feedback from as many service users as possible, as this project is vital in providing a service that is service user lead.
