Hello Weather Watchers.... ......Tropical moisture should stay South of KS..... We should have stuck with our first forecast that shunted moisture from Hurricane Odile South of our area...as that is what it looks like now. Southern areas - South of K-96- could see .25-.50 of moisture early Saturday morning( more as you get closer to the OK border ) Based on current models we should see additional chances for moisture Monday-Thursday as a cold front swings through, we warm up only to see a chance of more T-storms and a cool down later next week..... Let us know RAIN TOTALS from last nights rain event- We would also like to see any pictures of hail damage-- we have had some reports but only one photo from the Minneapolis area.... Lastly, we are planning to launch our own weather balloon this Fall. We will make it using instruments that will send information to us or record information which we can download after its trip to the top of the atmosphere around 110,000 ft above the surface. We have a way to record the entire trip, which will be exciting to view once the balloon pops ( around 110,000ft ) an parachutes back to earth. If you would be interested in participating or watching this occur on a Saturday/Sunday- let us know. It will help you understand the different layers of the atmosphere, the different wind speeds and directions as well as the amazingly cold temps the higher we get.
