Hello Zane! I have a question for you and the readers but heres - TopicsExpress

Hello Zane! I have a question for you and the readers but heres some background. Im a third generation service member, both my father and grandfather served. My husband is currently on active duty and all 3 are combat veterans of multiple wars. I was enlisted for 6 years of National Guard service and I was honorably discharged last December. With Veterans Day coming up tomorrow, I feel ashamed when people thank me for my service because I havent done anything. I did not deploy and I was not on active duty although I plan to go back in the next year. Should Veterans Day and the various services and activities (free meals for vets, etc) be observed by combat veterans and those actively serving only or should it be expanded to ANYONE that has served? I dont think we should be rewarded for enlisting, but those that have sacrificed their physical, emotional and mental health should definitely be recognized and rewarded for doing as such. I dont think other service members like myself should participate, but not everyone feels the same or has integrity. Thoughts? Signed, A Confused Former Service Member MY RESPONSE: This is an interesting topic and I have no response but would love to hear what others have to say. So I will be reading everyones thoughts like yourself-LOL
