Hello Zane. Im 16 Years Old And Im Kinda Caught In The Middle Of A Feud. I Havent Been To School Since January And I Probably Wont Be Back Until August. Back In January, My Oldest Sister (Who Is 29) And Her Husbands Dog, Which Is A Chow/PitBull Mix Attacked Me When I Went To Visit Them. Ive Known The Dog Since It Was A Baby So I Dont Know Why She Would Bite Me. I Was Never Mean To Her. And She Almost Killed Me. She Bit Me Really Badly On My Leg And She Tried To Go For My Neck. All I Know Is That I Was Bleeding A Lot And I Was Screaming And Crying. I Had Emergency Surgery To Attach Some Severed Muscles Or Ligaments (I Really Dont Know The Difference) And I Had Over 100 Staples. I Spent A Month In The Hospital In Pain. I Had To Get A Blood Transfusion Too Because I Loss A Lot Of Blood. I Got An Infection So I Had To Stay Longer In The Hospital. That Really Sucked. My Mom Had To Miss A Lot Of Days From Work To Be With Me. Ill Be Having Another Surgery Next Month. I Might Have To Have 4 More Surgeries. Im Dreading This Next Surgery Because Im Still In A Lot Of Pain And Now I Am Addicted To Pain Killers. Im Hooked And I Need Them To Get By. My Mom Locked Up The Pills And Now She Might Send Me To Drug Rehab. Im Way Behind In School, I Literally Went From An A/B Student, To Barely Passing. I Have To Do All Of My Assignments At Home Online Because My Doctor Said That Its Not Safe For Me To Return To School. My Parents, Siblings, And Friends Help Me Do My Homework. Its Impossible For Me To Do All Of My Homework All By Myself. Id Never Catch Up. Hopefully, In August, Ill Be Back In School, But Its Still Tentative. Anyways My Mom And Sister Have Been Going At It About My Medical Bills. My Mom Said That My Sister And Her Husband Need To Pay Half Of The Medical Bills. My Mom Said That Shes Going To Take Them To Court And Sue For My Medical Bills. My Sister Still Has Her Dog. I Love Her Dog But It Really Hurts My Feelings That She Loves Her Dog More Than She Loves Me. She Treats The Dog Like An Human. Her Husband Told Her To Get Rid Of The Dog, But She Refuses. I Have A Toy Yorkie And Im Scared That Hell Snap On Me Too So I Might Give Him Up. Im Afraid Of My Own Dog Now Because I Dont Know If Hell Bite Me Too. My Question is: Do You Think That My Mom Should Sue Her Own Daughter? My Sister Hasnt Offered To Help Mommy And The Medical Bills Are Piling On The Table. I Dont Think That I Should Have To Pay Them Because Im A Minor. Its Her Dog. MY RESPONSE: Baby Girl, I am so sorry that you have gone through this. Please go to rehab if that is what it takes. Pain pills are extremely addictive and your type of situation is how many addictions formulate. As for the medical bills, I personally feel like your sister and her husband need to be responsible for 100% of your medical bills, not half. Your mother may actually have to take them to court and I guarantee you that she will win. There is no defense. I love you and good luck. I hope you can attend school again in the fall.
