Hello again - well I am hoping its hello. None of my posts, since before Eid, have been shared - if you want to find out what I had to say just go to my page - they are all there. Including Eid greetings and wishes ....... Despite the fact that the EU had stopped all military aid and the US as much as they can without contravening the Camp David agreement, the Egyptian security forces are still fighting terrorism. Today they managed to diffuse one car bomb outside the Special Intelligence building in Ismalayya but another exploded injuring four soldiers and two civilians. Ismalayya has been reported as north east of Cairo - this is correct - they just left out the over 70 miles bit..... Mubaraks never ending trial resumed today - remember the fuss about him being released - he is 85 and under house arrest - he was never released. Morsys long and winding trial will start on 4 November. So, guess what, a large number of students [a couple of thousand at most] at Al Azhar University decided to protest about his arrest. They have stated they will do this every day. Al Azhar only went back today and now say they may suspend all courses indefinitely. Lets just put the numbers in context - there are 40,000 students at Al Azhar - 5%. This 5% are depriving the other 95% of the educational opportunities offered to them. Ring a bell? 5% of the population of this country have had 95% of the foreign media coverage since 28 June. The Ministry of the Interior have announced that they will introduce laws whereby protestors have to inform the police of planned protests and their routes. Any other protests will be deemed illegal. Most people welcome this but the Brotherhood and 6 April Group [who dont like anyone] have been crying about a return to a military state etc. I cant see anything wrong with the law - its the same in the UK, USA et al. Democracy isnt Utopia and these Friendly Friday walkabouts have to be stopped by the government rather than local residents. Back at work today. Lovely Japanese vendor came - shes been here since the beginning of Eid - very happy and willing to travel the city on her own. We have a Russian girl arriving on Monday. Quite a lot of road related upgrading has gone on during the holiday. Re surfacing of some major roads in Giza and the bridge from Cairo University to the other side of the road [where the cafes are] has its framework in place.......the volume of young people crossing that stretch of road causes traffic jams that are beyond belief. Cairo cool, calm and collected today. May the peaceful people of Egypt [and Syria] and the forces that protect them stay safe and successful.
