Hello all. Been a crazy week, but here I am. First off Loki and the rest of the fur family are just great. Spent 4-5 hours this afternoon pulling out all the old straw bedding in his run and replaced with all new (wheat) straw. His bed is a mixed layer of straw, dog beds, more straw and covered in fleece. Approx size is 5 x 5 and about 3 high. Very plush and comfy. Plus I covered the dirt floor in a thin layer of straw as well. He remained inside the run while all this work went on and supervised. So that is the good news. The bad news is that mom is very sick yet again, she never got over the last two bouts she had, and she is once again extremely ill. I am trying to convince her to let me take her back to the hospital tonight. Also the report came back on her recent kidney tests and her GSR is down to 16%..in other words she only has 16% kidney function left, a drop of 3% in just the last two months. The specialist will not be in Hay River until October, so mom will see her on October 8th. If she gets closer to the 10% mark then it will be needed dialysis, 3 times a week. They are equipped to do that here at the hospital. Mom is very weak, extremely tired and just wants to sleep. She is in bed right now. She forced her dinner into herself as she has no appetite at all, and it has been 2 days since a BM. She actually had a good Saturday, but was a mess Sunday. The appt at the hospital with the NP, went well, however he said that mom is very fragile and changing any of her meds is a very tricky business at this point. He said we have to take it one day at a time from now on and agreed that she is incapable of medical travel be it to Yellowknife or anywhere else. He also agreed that to put her through any invasive tests would be dangerous and also rather pointless as she could not tolerate any surgery that might be required due to the severity of her ongoing medical history. So, each and every day we are together is, in both our minds a Blessing. I apologize, but I must sign off for now, check on mom and will soon be joining Bonnie and China for our evening walk. We wont be going as far as I dont like leaving mom alone. I would feel much better if she would let me take her to the hospital as I must go to work each day, hence leaving her alone. She is strong willed and stubborn, so it must be her decision. If she agrees then I know she is scared and really sick. Hugs to all of you, and much love.
