Hello, all; I havent posted for a while. Obviously. As we all know, Life Happens. Yet, getting to sit and chat and listen to music with Cleo a few days ago I thought I would share something, one piece written by myself some time ago, and another written to go with music, by the prog rock band Dream Theater. I do this attempting to illustrate how ones journey in the Now can seem torturous, even well-nigh impossible to endure and retain a shred of humanity. Yet, as steel is rendered from its raw ore it undergoes such extremes of heat, pressure and unimaginable force, were it to be sentient and able to lend voice its screams would be deafening as it is shaped into its new form. As life is our crucible, anvil and hammer, what form will we take? We have a hand in that you know. BIPOLAR FLOOR these closeted dreams stifling in their corners they’re not what they seem they change as they bleed … can’t you hear the sounds of wishes as they claw to escape their cell they know the Lord of Light burned brightest as He descended into Hell these liquid screams laughing in broken glasses mesmerizing whiskey gleams I change as I bleed … can’t you hear the shrieks of sleep denied the walking undead that can’t love anymore they know wherever they go there’s nowhere to hide from murdered body chalklines on a bipolar floor - I know wherever I go there’s nowhere to hide from my murdered life on a bipolar floor these nailed dreams drowning in ink they’re not what they seem they weep as they bleed … can’t you hear the sounds of a man imploring for those doors not to be locked anymore irony, despair, the inertia of darksome dying driving him to lie naked shivering on a bipolar floor - driving me forever to the bipolar floor. S.O. Kilburn Dark days. Yet these following lyrics give voice to the inevitability of hope: Illumination Theory- v. Surrender, Trust & Passion To really feel the joy in life You must suffer through the pain When you surrender to the light You can face the darkest days If you open up your eyes And you put your trust in love On those cold and endless nights You will never be alone Passion glows within your heart Like a furnace burning bright Until you struggle through the dark Youll never know that youre alive. Dream Theater Thanks be to God I didnt give up. And I am starting to feel the joy. Have a good weekend. Sean Kilburn
