Hello all, somethings we should all be aware of,,, this will - TopicsExpress

Hello all, somethings we should all be aware of,,, this will effect our area :) There follows two important Highway 68 and Toro Area issues and suggestions for how you can help. Issue #1 The Monterey County Planning Commission will be meeting for a Ferrini Ranch field trip Wednesday morning, September 24, at 10 a.m. for purposes of the proposed Ferrini Ranch Subdivision Development. Because all the Commissioners are invited, it becomes a public meeting under the Brown Act. So, the public is also invited. People will gather at the first parking lot on the right inside our Toro Regional Park (right after the Toro Regional Park kiosk). There will be no admittance fee. The County notice is attached below. Heres hoping it goes through to your email, but if not, you now know the date, the time, and the location. We expect developers Mark Kelton of Domain Corp., and Ray Harrod, Jr will be there. In addition, County staff will be there. Typically, what happens is that County staff leads the Commissioners around to different parts of the project sites and describes their understanding of what the project is, at this time. For example, due to California Tiger Salamander habitat and wildlife pathways, proposed sites are reduced to 188. The Commissioners will ask some questions on their field trip. As it is a public meeting, the public will also be given an opportunity to ask questions or voice observations. It is rare for the developers to respond fully to the publics questions. They are not required to do so. So, one may expect vague answers. However, what you can do is take some notes, or remember questions and concerns that you have. There has been no tape recorder on Planning Commission field trips. What you can do to help: After getting home, write your questions and concerns down and send them to the Project Planner, David Mack and/or John Ford. In your letter, or email, reference the Planning Commission Field Trip on September 24, 2014, and ask that your questions and comments be made part of the public record for the Ferrini Ranch Subdivision application. Please include the Planning Department File Number for this project which is #PLN040758. Ask for and share any responses received. Planners email addresss are: [email protected] [email protected] The mailing address is: Planning, c/o David Mack and John Ford 168 W. County Park revenues are off, largely due to the drought and low lake levels. However, the issue of privatizing portions of the Parks, specifically Toro Regional Park is being considered by the consultants. You may have read about a possible ten-year concession agreement for private Toro Fastpitch softball in an important portion of Toro Regional Park. And what about the Laguna Seca County Park? We recognize the race track and its importance to the hospitality industry, as well as providing an entertainment diversion for some local people. However, the noise seems to go on every day. The multiple-day big events, plus the track rentals, plus the racing school is just ongoing. It is more than originally envisioned, or planned for. Issues include, but are not limited to, noise, traffic and water. Some of us sat in a Board of Supervisors meeting last year, and listened to a County staff person argue that Laguna Seca is currently an UNDERUTILIZED race track and park! The suggestion was to make it even bigger. What you can do: Take the survey created by the consultants, and contact the management partners with the links provided below. Thank you. Parks Department Strategic Planning The Monterey County Parks Department has engaged a consultant to help create a strategic plan. They are interested in your input as we gather ideas that will be helpful in this process. This survey has been designed to give park users an opportunity to contribute ideas and suggestions for how the Parks Department should approach its future. Your input is essential to this project and is appreciated. https://surveymonkey/s/mcpdusers ***It has been brought to our attention that there is limited space for feedback within the survey, and we encourage you to contact the consultants directly with additional comments, ideas, and suggestions about our County Parks - contact Heain Lee of Management Partners at 408-437-5400 or hlee@managementpartners. ...................................................................................................................................................................................................
