Hello, and welcome to Swing Dance Madake! Were undergoing a bit of a changing-of-the-guard at the moment, and making exciting plans for the future of swing dancing in Hanoi! It might take a week or two to get sorted, but stay tuned! Meanwhile, a little about myself: Im fresh off the boat from Melbourne, Australia, having arrived two weeks ago, and Ill be here in Hanoi until early 2016. Ive been dancing lindy hop for over four years now, and have had the pleasure of learning from some of the best teachers in Australia, as well as attending workshops in Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Korea with some of the best dancers in the world. Im still a beginner at this teaching game, but hopefully I can teach you some sweet moves anyway. Im also really keen on solo jazz, which consist of many essential moves for any lindy hopper. My current idea for future classes comprise of: Part 1. Solo jazz - through which we can learn essential routines like the Shim Sham, Jitterbug Stroll, Tranky Doo and the Big Apple. Part 2. Lindy Hop - including charleston, 6-beat and 8-beat. Part 3. Social Dancing - Nobodys going to force you to social dance, but its the only real way to improve your dancing! Besides, its fun! I also do love Balboa and the thrill of dancing to gypsy jazz, but one thing at a time... Anyway, Im open to any other ideas or questions that people have. If you know of any jazz bands performing, post it to the group, and we can try to get a few dancers coming along! See you on the dance floor soon. Andrew
