Hello everyone! Hws ur day goin? Awsome i believe, today am going to discuss the issue of GENUINE repentance and SINCERE seeking forgiveness from God and as usual i will enjoin you to follow through with rapt attention as this might very well relate to you or probably will in the nearest future. 2corinthians7:9-11-Now i rejoice, not that ye were made sorry,BUT THAT YE SORROWED TO REPENTANCE,for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. FOR GODLY SORROW WORKETH REPENTANCE unto salvation not to be repented of:but THE SORROW OF THIS WORLD WORKETH DEATH. For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you,yea what clearing of yourselves, yea what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal,ye,what revenge! In all things ye have appeoved yourselves to be clear on this matter. Personally,i believe the aspect of repentance from sins and seeking of forgiveness is perhaps one of the most misunderstood doctrines in christianity and most christians,if not all, really do not understand that concept and as a result they fall short, waaay short of the mercies of God. The opening verse summarises what true and genuine repentance really means and heres how i paraphrase it in my own words-when you sin against God,knowingly or unknowingly, and you then realize your shortcomings,if you just sulk down, mopping and feeling sorry for yourself, and you just stop there, doing absolutely nothing about it thinking that God will see your guilt and have mercy on you even when you dont make efforts to seek his forgiveness, then your just wasting your time because nothing else apart from seeking mercy from the throne of grace will take that guilt and shame away and its only when you come clean, accept the fact that youve done wrong, seek his forgiveness, genuinely repent of your sins, pray for the grace to not go back to them, and then stand firm on your repentance decision wen the temptation comes to you, that you will be able to receive the mercy of God. This statement that i just made, clearly shows the difference between a phony repenter and a genuine repenter. The last paragraph of the above verse points out a major need-to-know for all christians and it can equally be summarised as thus in my paraphrased words when youve been forgiven of a sin you commited,if the temptation to fall back comes up again, what will you do??? Fall back?or Stand strong. The deceit about a LIE is that being constantly exposed or living in it for a really long time makes one believe that its actually a truth and even when discovered for what it truly is,resistance to this new found truth is inevitable because the victim has become sooo used to this LIE that it has become a TRUISM in the persons subconscious. One of the greatest lie of the devil is-your sin is too great for God to forgive, why bother seeking forgiveness if you know youll fall back into those sins, whats the point??just save God the stress of having to forgive you time and over again of something thats obviously already a permanent part of you. See thats the lie most people have dwelt in so long that its already become a truth to them. The solution???-1john1:9- if we confess our sins,he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,AND CLEANSE US FROM OUR UNRIGHTEOUSNESS. period! Thats it right there! Thats where you have an advantage!its your strong, steady rock-solid faith in the fact that not only will God forgive you but also cleanse you from your unrighteousness that will help you successfully defeat those thoughts that keep reminding you of your past failures and high tendency to fall back. Finally-ephesians6:10-Finally,my brethren,BE STRONG IN THE LORD,AND IN THE POWER OF HIS MIND. The verse didnt say be strong in yourself and in the power of your might,it said GODS MIGHT.
