Hello everyone, I am the president of Delta Pi Rho fraternity at Purdue and have grown close to the people in this fraternity during these last 3 years of being a member. As time has passed, we have been through a lot together and I consider each person a part of my family. There are also people outside of my own family and outside of this brotherhood that I consider brothers. One thing that deeply pains me to see, is the struggle of a brother when a family member has been diagnosed or is struggling with cancer because it seems that I cant really do much to help except to be there for moral support. This year we decided that we will do something. Delta Pi Rho is holding a 5k run, during our week of events, that was inspired by the people close to some of our brothers and for others in our community, near and far, who have been diagnosed with cancer. Cancer is the leading cause of death in the Latino/Hispanic community and we hope to promote healthy habits that can prevent cancer and detect it early, when treatments are most successful, and to raise money for the American Cancer Society. So, hopefully I can get all of your support in an effort to unify in a fight against Cancer to Rise for those who have fallen and for those who continue to fight it head on.
