Hello everyone! Scott and I went down to Beckley after work yesterday to have dinner with Daniel and his friend, Logan, and their staff at Ruby Tuesday as we try to do every other month or so. Its something they look so forward to and we really enjoy ourselves, too. A lot has happened since I posted about Daniels move to Beckley in Aug 2013. He is in his third house now, is living with a different housemate, and is on his third service coordinator and IDT team. Lots of staff changes, too, of course. Ironically, the house Daniel now lives in is the first house I toured with this Rescare agency! The neighborhood is good for Daniel and he is out and active in the community nearly every day. :) Weve gone through some trouble with Daniels health this year, including having to have him checked for bone cancer and leukemia. Most likely because of his medications [one we believe did the most damage he was taken off of within a month] his blood levels are now permanently compromised. We simply go day by day watching his WBC and neutrophil/lymph levels carefully with monthly blood tests. He has a very good medical team including his oncologist who will take immediate action if we find Daniels neutrophil level drops below a certain point. Beyond that, there isnt anything else to be done. I remain very actively involved in my sons care, regardless of--and especially because of-- the personnel changes in his service coordination team. Daniel has to be careful about infections now because of his blood issues but other than that, he is doing very well. Hes back down to his prom weight after having lost 80lbs and he looks great!! The weight loss is also good for his feet and legs improving his posture and gait. :) Scott and I are still working in town at Foster Feed 5-1/2 days per week. The greenhouses are all destroyed and most of the contents were ruined because of the storms weve had here over the last three years. But it is what it is. Nothing material is worthy to be mourned and I am blessed beyond measure. Everything is exactly as it is supposed to be with the Lord, our God in control.
