Hello everyone and a Happy New Year. Claire and I thought that we would give you a quick update on what we are doing. Argo Flowers Ltd Following a superb first year for Argo Flowers Ltd, we are confident that we will double our sales for 2015. Realistically we won’t have our scented roses and herbs available, in any quantity, until May but we will have long lasting, scented British grown Sweet peas available in March. We will be visiting growers further afield this month and will hopefully be back on the road in mid February with British grown: Tulips Gladioli Lilies – Oriental, Longi and Asiatic Stocks Sweet Williams Allium Sunflowers Agapanthus Daffodils Campanula Peonies Ornamental Brassica Scabious Anthuriums Antirrhinum Asters Hypericum Gyp Larkspur Iris Statice Pinks We are also hoping to sell British grown plants this year and will have a range of added value planted arrangements available for Mothers Day. We will require another vehicle to cover plants and we are looking into this too. Florismart Earlier in 2014 we were approached by Steve France of Florismart and asked if Argo Flowers would like to be involved in this new, exciting buying platform for florists. We agreed and have now become consultants for them. Florismart is probably one of the most exciting opportunities the flower trade has seen in years. The idea is simple – to create an on-line market place where florists have access to many exporters and growers, Dutch and British, through one portal (shop). You, the florist are given access to the Florismart web shop via a login code – very similar to the way you shop now, but instead of being able to buy from just one exporter, you will have access to several. We are looking for ‘pioneering’ florists to be involved in this and help us develop. The shop is currently ‘fed’ by 2 extremely well established and respected exporters who currently do not supply retailers in the UK Ed de Groot focuses on flexibility, a wide product selection and quality. They invest heavily in their organisation and have a very strong relationship with their growers. As one of the biggest exporters in the Netherlands with a turnover of EURO100m and 18 buyers, they secure some of the best deals available on a daily basis. Pauw van Egmond has an expert team of 12 buyers who excel at purchasing flowers on the auction clocks. They have a very large cash and carry business, one of the largest in the Netherlands, and are the No1 wholesaler for Dutch florists. Pauw van Egmond has a very large selection of plants. By mid February they will be joined on the site by; G. Heemskerk focuses on quality, freshness and service. They have a very friendly, personalised approach and a lean procurement system producing very competitive prices. They also specialise in making mixed bunches of flowers for the smaller florist. Barendsen have been supplying specialised cut flowers for over 100 years and have an excellent reputation for quality, knowledge and contacts with flower farmers. They have a high service level, and are actively involved in quality control projects with Chrysal and Floraholland. A ‘Go-Compare’ facility will be added in April, allowing you to select the best price for your order! British flower growers will be added to the site within the next few months allowing them to compete on the same terms as their Dutch colleagues. Creating a market place creates competition and so lower prices for you. We will be arranging to meet you as soon as possible to explain and demonstrate the system. In the meantime you can contact us by email or telephone to arrange a visit. john@florismart claire@florismart 07758181016 florismart
