Hello, fellow SOASians old and new! I am a former SOAS postgraduate student (Development Studies). I work for a charity called Afghanaid, which operates in Afghanistan and supports rural Afghans through the provision of basic services, disaster response/ humanitarian assistance and support/creation of rural livelihoods. We are hosting what promises to be an amazing half-day conference on Saturday, October 18th at Marlborough College which will include a photography exhibition, discussions with leading experts on Afghanistan and a performance of Afghan music. Panellists will include Michael Keating, former UN Deputy Envoy to Afghanistan; Jonathan Goodhand, Professor in Conflict Studies and Development Studies at SOAS; Stewart Windeler, an analyst from The Economist;Andy Miller, Archaeologist and Consultant for UNESCO in Afghanistan;Owen Davis, former Cultural and Political Advisor and Royal Marines Officer and recipient of the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross and so many more.
