Hello, fellow coders, I do have an ICD-10-CM observation. Have you noticed that we do not have as many code first or use additional code instructions as we have in ICD-9-CM. As you progress in your training, please pay attention to those details. It is the small details that we need to be aware of. Example: ICD-9-CM Sarcoidosis of the lung requires two codes and we have an instructional note that says code first the Sarcoidosis. Your code may look like this 135, [517.8]. In ICD-10-CM, your code will look like this, D86.0, Sarcoidosis of the lung. This is a combination code that tells the entire story. Until next time Remember Coders Get Paid To Think Mary Gregory
