Hello fellow iron workers I have a question for you guys a couple - TopicsExpress

Hello fellow iron workers I have a question for you guys a couple months ago I took a lay off from a dry camp. I then pulled a slip for another job that day I flew home spent a night with the misses then headed back to the city to do my pre access drug test I failed. My results came back positive for thc. My hall then told me I needed to go through a rehab course that consist of a min of 28 days of staying in rehab fallowed by 12 hours of substance abuse consoling fallowed by two years of random drug screenings. I personally think this is a little over kill. I am new to union ironworking dont get me wrong I love doing my job. But Im curious to why other members can go out the night before and consume enough booze for them to be hungover or still drunk the next day I dont take that lightly when working next to these men and women. But no one says a thing Ive talked to my old man about the situation I have put myself in but hes got 30 years on me of dealing with the union so he knows how it all works. My point is I think there should be a better way to Handel these issues say a blow box at the gate before you can go to work or a test to see if you have consumed thc the night before and maybe a lesser punishment if caught. Im just looking for some input on this subject. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please no negativity. Be safe and have fun brothers.
