Hello friends, It is now breeding season for many species and Ive been visiting wetlands and scrub lands in the Pune region since the past few days (start of summer onwards) and noticed bird nests of various species (Herons, Moorhens, Larks, Lapwings etc) which are very vulnerable and accessible to humans. In fact on one occasion I went searching for a warbler in the grasses next to Patas lake and unknowingly found a baby heron about four feet away. Obviously, I quickly retreated and never went there again. My point is, a lot of these birds have easily exposed nests. Birders must take care to not disturb them or flush the parent birds. While walking along the marshy edges of wetlands, off-path tracks in scrublands please take care and be alert. If at all you need to observe nests, use a telephoto lens with a long focal length or strong binoculars. Thanks for listening :) Regards.
