Hello my Guyanese brothers and sisters wishing all of you a beautiful and Blessed day; Namaste. This is an electrifying season of renewal and celebration that commenced with the happiness of Phagwah and now Navaratri (nine nights) accompanied by nine nights of celebrations and fasting. The festival is devoted to the Goddess Durga symbolizing power and purity . Today is the ninth day. Following is The Joys of Easter , and this celebration assures all a grand time. Easter is a magical time in Guyana , when the skies over the city will be bejeweled with kites of all shapes, colors and themes expertly navigated by the thousands of Guyanese and tourists flocking one of the popular venues like the sea wall or the National Park to participate in this age old tradition . Mouthwatering Guyanese food-the traditional cross buns, and family get-togethers, and picnics are the celebration of the joys of Easter in Guyana Many Guyanese will be travelling to the Pakaraima Mountain Safari from 12th – 20th April , and the trendy Bartica Regatta with its impressive lineup of activities beginning on April 19th to 20t then the ever popular adrenaline filled Easter Rupununi Rodeo on the 20th and 21st of April The Rupununi rodeo is in region 9 and as a delegate of the Miss World Guyana I represent this region which is one of the most beautiful parts of Guyana. One of the events that has become all the rage is in Region 9 it is the Easter weekend in Rupununi to see the annual Rodeo, a popular national event being staged in vaquero (or ranch cowboys) country, and competition runs high among the various ranches of the region. Now a popular national event, the rodeo brings thousands from various parts of Guyana and Brazil to the destination-Rodeo, by planes, cars, or 4×4 trucks This year the Rupununi Rodeo will be held on the 20th and 21st of April, 2014 It also is a great time to explore The beautiful interior of Guyana . One of the largest cattle ranches in the Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo Region is Dadanawa Ranch . I believe it is the second largest ranch in the world. The ranch is now run by Duane de Freitas and his family and They run an Ecotourism business from the ranch and visitors from all over the world come to bird watch or go on river trips in the Savannahs and Amazon Rainforest. Duane and Justin have set up the Rupununi Conservation Society to protect the highly endangered Siskins and other bird and river turtle species. There are many places to stay in Region 9.
