Help Find Ondela Xhasa Copy and pasted from the City Vision A social media fury has erupted after a 17 year old girl from Gugulethu that was reported missing made her way home yesterday. Ondela Xhasa, 17, went missing on a Sunday two weeks ago after attending party in town. A social media campaign was launched with two pages started on Facebook asking for help regarding the Gardens Commercial High School pupils’ whereabouts. A hash tag was also doing the rounds on Twitter to help with the search with City Vision also publishing a notice to find the lost girl. But holes started to appear in the story as her friends gave different versions of what happened during the night of her disappearance. While some Twitter users were happy that she was ‘found’ many accused her of spending the entire time with a boyfriend, the tweets read: @Samantha Kiviet- Oh mxm... Sleeping over at her boyfriends for days then next thing kuthwa she’s missing #ONDELA respect us please!!!! MajestyKagiso-They kill you, lock you in a storeroom, and then report you as #Ondela why le le so? @NcumisaSiko- I demand to know what happened to #ondela ? after all 8 days of disappearance!!! We all need an explanation #17yearoldondela @Vuyokazi_N- I’m just waiting for all the people that made us feel bad for scrutinizing her to apologise! #OndelaXhasa @iZickey: Why are people lying? If #OndelaXhasa is found or back at home. Then why is there a ‘search’ team in town? A Facebook fanpage titled Ondela Xhasa News Update claimed to have been administrated by a friend of hers kept on teasing that they know the truth but never answered any questions asked by followers regarding the disappearance. On Tuesday morning, Ondela’s sister Lizeka said that Ondela was found in the back yard of their home. Lizeka told City Vision that Ondela has not spoken about where she has been over the past 8 days. “She is visibly shaken and appears to be traumatized but has not spoken to anyone. She is undergoing counselling maybe after that she will be able to say where she was. We are very happy that she was found alive but we are worried about what might have happened to her,’ she said. She said that Ondela came back in the same clothes taht she was last seen in but asked City Vision not to get in contact with her as she had had enough. Lizeka said that she was disappointed by the comments made on social networks about her sister but is not overly concerned. “People will always have bad things to say. Even before she was found people were making up stories and saying bad things about her,” said Lizeka. Gugulethu police spokesperson Captain Elliot Sinyangana said they were still investigating the matter and further comment will be made later.
