Helping Heal The Hole In Our Hearts Andrea lived in Illinois, - TopicsExpress

Helping Heal The Hole In Our Hearts Andrea lived in Illinois, but grew up in rural Wisconsin where her parents owned a restaurant. She knew no one in New York, nor did her parents. She worked at the Chicago office of Carr Futures and on September 11, 2001 she was visiting their New York headquarters. It was located in the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Early on in their shared journey, her parents, Gordon and Kathleen, felt very isolated - being so far away from New York and getting information either late or not at all. When they attended the first Voices of September 11th Information Forum in New York City, they did not know what to expect. Gordon said that “what we found was a healing connection that needed no words. It was the first time we did not have to explain how we felt to people! I remember what a relief that was. We all were in the same situation. Many of the families we have met through VOICES are now good friends of ours. Gordon and Kathleen have attended all the Information Forums VOICES has held over the past 12 years. “The speakers at the various forums have provided us with relevant and accurate information, and the question and answer sessions have given us perspectives we had not even thought about before. Together, in one place, we found what we had most needed. Accurate answers to questions foremost in our minds - whether that be from the Medical Examiner’s office, the 9/11 Commissioners speakers, or last year’s presentation on what to expect in the recently opened museum. “Equally as important, we have been connected with people who have helped heal the hole in our hearts. Always at the conference are those who understand and assist in soothing that wound. As we journey back to Wisconsin, albeit with heavy hearts, it is comforting to know that the VOICES organization and Mary and her staff are just a phone call away with answers, information and kind words.” #MakeADifference today! ow.ly/BkW3j Thanks @aol @AOLCSR
