Helping Victims of Domestic Violence: Support Hopeline by Donating Unused Phones Boise Police are happy to support the Hopeline program. Now through the month of August, people can donate phones no longer in use, along with batteries and chargers, and drop them in boxes in the lobbies at both Boise City Hall and Boise City Hall West. Through the Verizon wireless Hopeline program, Verizon will refurbish the phones, equip them with minutes and, working through local domestic violence agencies, provide them to victims of domestic abuse. “Phone service is vital to helping domestic violence victims recover and rebuild their lives,” said Officer Sherri Cameron, a domestic violence investigator with the Boise Police Department. “A phone connection is something victims may lose as they leave an unsafe situation, often with limited funds. Reconnecting them with phone service is a huge and important step in connecting victims with other needed services like employment and housing. Something as simple but important as a phone can make a big difference in helping a victim and their family rebuild a safe and healthy home life.” said Officer Cameron. Where can I drop my phone? In specially marked boxes in the lobbies of both Boise City Hall locations; 333 N. Mark Stall Place and 150 N. Capitol Blvd. Does the phone have to be working? No. In fact, Verizon strongly suggests you erase any personal data from the phone. Information on how to erase personal data is available on the phone manufacturer’s website or user guide.
