Helping the beggars on the streets of Malmö is a very big job. I - TopicsExpress

Helping the beggars on the streets of Malmö is a very big job. I really dont know how to handle this, for lack of a better word, lets call it project. All I know is that after listening to this video with the voice of our Founder, William Booth, I feel compelled to do something to help. Am I going to be able to do this all by my lonesome, not really. I will need help from volunteers, and probably a rather large number of volunteers. Where can I find these volunteers? I have no idea, but this I do know, that if I am doing what God wants me to do, then He will supply the volunteers. Scripture tells me: (Php 4:19 NASB) “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” I must trust Him to do what He has said, through the Apostle Paul, He will do. These are gypsies that we are talking about, and they are not treated very well at all in Romania. Ive heard, I dont know whether its true or not, that Romania has received an extra sum of money from the EU to help with this problem. It appears the money has gone down the tubes. This leaves a problem and that is how we can really help these people? I assume, though perhaps I shouldnt, that they have no desire to return to Romania. Again I make an assumption and that is that they probably make more money begging on the streets of Sweden, than they would receive in Romania. I wonder if The Salvation Army in Romania can be of assistance to these people? If the Army in Romania can be of assistance, then perhaps some of these people will be prepared to return home. I suppose I can make contact with The Salvation Army in Romania myself. As a soldier at a Corps in Sweden, not on behalf of The Salvation Army in Sweden. The question I will put to The Salvation Army in Romania will be, if they have the ability to help any of the Romanians that are, at present, in Sweden on their return to Romania? This is as far as my thought process has gone. There are a lot of things to consider, and I have only begun to think about the problem. The words of our Founder come to mind: “...Perhaps we will fail with many. Quite likely. But our business is to help them all the same. And that in the most practical, economical and Christ-like manner. So let us hasten to the rescue for the sake of our own peace....” That is the directive and I will salute and say: Ill do my best. What do I do next? Do I take contact with THQ in Stockholm so that they can take contact with the Eastern European Territorial HQ? Do I, as suggested by Sven Ljungholm, run the program through the FSAOF, that is, Former Salvation Army Officers Fellowship? I dont know the answer, just at the moment. I thought Id share with my Facebook friends my musing on this subject, and ask for suggestions and comments. The floor is now yours my friends.
