Hendricks is a honey badger: He dont care whos next UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks is back in light training following bicep surgery sustained in a winning title defense vs. Robbie Lawler. Injuries can throw off any plans unexpectedly, but realistically, Lawlers next defense has to be against someone in the top of the top 10. Champion : Johny Hendricks 1 Robbie Lawler - Had a title shot in March 2 Rory MacDonald - On a one-fight win streak 3 Tyron Woodley - 3-2 last five fights 4 Carlos Condit - Injured 5 Matt Brown - never fought a top-10 fighter 6 Hector Lombard - Only has two fights in the division 7 Jake Ellenberger - 2-3 last four fights In all likelihood, Hendricks next fight will be versus the winner of Tyron Woodley vs. Rory MacDonald at UFC 174 on June 14, or Lawler vs. Matt Brown at UFC on FOX 12 on Jul. 26. However, like a honey badger, Hendricks dont care. Realistically, I dont care, said Hendricks on UFC Tonight as transcribed by MMAFighting. Im going to have to fight one of them. Im going to have to fight Lawler again or fight Brown or Rory MacDonald or Tyron Woodley. Doesnt matter. Brown-Lawler. I fought Lawler, never fought Brown. It just depends how he goes into that fight. I dont like to really pick on my weight class. Sort of just like a guessing game so that ones a close one. Tyron Woodely can easily wrestle [MacDonald], could out-strike him or Rory MacDonald could keep him at bay with that jab like he did a couple of other guys. It just depends. And what about former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, who is taking a break from MMA of indefinite, maybe permanent duration? Id love to have a rematch, dont get me wrong, but if he never came back it wouldnt bother me none. Im trying to make my own legacy and if hes part of it thatd be great. If not, I dont care.
