Here Ezra Klein interviews Ta-Nehisi Coates on his piece in The Atlantic, The Case for Reparations. The article was one of the most intellectual, well-written, and thought-provoking works I have ever read. I dont know if anyone will watch this hour long interview, but I promise its worth every minute of your time. One part of the interview that really stands out is when Coates correlates the way we view climate change to how we view racism in America. Neither are problems we really want to think about or try and resolve...theyre rather things we want to ignore and hope that they fix themselves. “To ignore the fact that one of the oldest republics in the world was erected on a foundation of white supremacy, to pretend that the problems of a dual society are the same as the problems of unregulated capitalism, is to cover the sin of national plunder with the sin of national lying.”
