Here I go being an activist again (sorry)(cant help it).... For the entire last 2 weeks, there has been dual-sided picture of a mans suit being forwarded around. On one side, the suit is perfectly tailored & the other one is oversized and baggy. Ive seen three different captions listed on this same image and several different personalized remarks (all of which implicate the realness, or lack of, in manhood or character. Please allow me to express my sentiment on this: Whether you know it or not,a lot of men (not all) dont know how to dress (nicely/polished) & there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Go to any engagement in the city tonight & you wont find too many Dwayne Wades in fitted sport coats and flat front trousers. Instead, youll find a lot of brothers doing the best they can with the knowledge & funds that they have. In no way whatsoever, does the fit of their coat depict the type of man they are, the character they posses, or where they are going. At best, the only thing that can be determined is how well (or not) they are dressed for the day. While I dont condemn or judge anybody for sharing these types of photos & verbiage (& Ni@@as/ Bi@@@es be like - other things), I personally believe that our words/actions & imagery help mold the subconcious minds of what is truly real. ***SIDE NOTE: I USED TO HAVE AN AWKWARD BODY (still do, somewhat). I HAD LONG SKINNY ARMS, BROAD SHOULDERS & CHEST, SKINNY LOWER BODY WITH LONG LEGS. I WAS A NIGHTMARE FOR NICE SUITS. I SIMPLY COULDNT AFFORD TO BUY A NICE SUIT, SO I WORE THEY BEST THAT I HAD TO CHURCH (NOT COURT). THE SHOULDERS FIT BUT IT APPEARED A BIT BAGGY ON MY FRAME. >> AT THE TENDER AGE OF 27, I BECAME FINANCIALLY STABLE ENOUGH TO INVEST IN TO HIGH QUALITY, TAILORED SUITS AND APPAREL & IT DIDNT MAKE ME ANY MORE OF A MAN THAN I WAS BEFORE OR AFTER... It just made me better dressed.
