Here To Heal Read Isaiah 61:1-4 In Isaiah 61:1-4, Inspiration records that an anointed One would preach good tidings unto the meek, bind up the brokenhearted, proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison to them that are bound.....to comfort all that mourn. In Luke 4:17-19, Jesus applied this prophesy to Himself. The scripture records how Jesus lived this calling by blessing all people. In Matthew 12:41 we see that Jesus went about “preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing every sickness and every disease among the people” and in the Pentecost pointers that we sometimes call the beatitudes He promised relief and reward to the meek and those who mourn (Matt 5:4-5). He comforted those who were brokenhearted at the tomb of Lazarus (John 11:30-44) and most importantly by His sacrifice He gave all who are obedient the opportunity to be free from sin (Romans 6:17-18), for “with His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). As we consider our feebleness (Heb. 4:15) and as we mourn sin and its impact on us we should remember the words of Jesus, “Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest” (Matt 12:28).
