Here are excerpts a letter of a volunteer getting ready to change the direction of her life for the next 6 months. She will be serving the impoverished of Peru. After returning from an internship there, where she saw the overwhelming needs, Jennifer has decided that she wants to do something to impact the lives of those who have no hope or help.... So, here is the next big thing going on in my life, and it’s time to make the Facebook announcement. My time in Peru for my internship was incredibly life changing. While I was praying desperately to go back to Peru, yet had every door slamming in my face, I kept hearing Him whisper wait. What for what?? Turns out, God orchestrated something so much better than anything I could have made happen myself. Turns out patience and faith really does pay off. A door has been opened for me to go back to Peru, doing volunteer work for an organization called People of Peru Project. I will be working in the areas of medical outreach, women and children crisis center, education, and documenting this work for the organization in the capacity of Photojournalist. The circumstances under which this opportunity came to me were extraordinary, too long a story to share here but will be living in Iquitos,for 6 months telling the stories of the people living there, doing hands on volunteer work, and eventually, helping with volunteer coordination and translating. Since this is a volunteer position, I need to cover my expenses, while living there. Ive sent out some fundraising letters (maybe you or someone in your family has received one), and I’m continuing to have faith that God will provide. Right now my heart and soul are with the people in Peru, and I just wanted to ask for your love, support and prayers during this time. Thank you so much in advance, Jennifer Milchenko
