Here are some more letters, Enjoy!! Hi, We received your care packages and we can’t thank you enough for what you guys do for us. It really felt like Christmas getting all the boxes for my unit and having toiletries and snacks and all the little things we miss from back home. I will send you a flag and for the Downing Middle School I will make a plaque with the flag in it and certificate. Can you please send me a good address I can ship it to? It really meant a lot to the whole unit when we received these packages. We got the binder of letters and each read 10 of them out loud, they were very thoughtful and all of you guys are amazing for caring so much about us. Everything you guys sent we needed or will be using shortly. The amounts were perfect, If you guys ship anything else out to us we can figure out what we might need for it. Until then Keep up the great work you guys do back home it really means a lot to all of us out here! We really appreciate any care packages you send to us and know that we are very gracious for it. Have a great day! Justin USCG RAID/831st DDST Justin is the POC for one of our newest adopted units. Downing Middle School collected goods for troops and included large binders full of letters from the students. From Chap Peterson, another POC for us......I emailed him to let him know that 70 boxes were coming his way packed by our weekday packers. Thanks Nancy, I am doing great, although as you can imagine this is my busiest weekend of the deployment, with six Easter services to prepare for. I will email Ms Bell, but wanted you to know that I have already received some packages, and wanted you to know that they were greatly appreciated, and if you go to the Facebook group Combat Logistics Battalion 7 and look at the latest photo album labeled Photo Friday #12, you will see some of your packages in the group photo, and being handed out to various Marines and Sailors, Thanks again for your generosity and support, Warmest Regards, Dave Battalion Chaplain CLB 7+ Camp Leatherneck, AFG From Alex, another POC, that received boxes packed by the weekday packers.... Nancy, We just got another set of packages. I have to get a team together to distribute them AND take photos to send back. I want to make sure all the folks that get something actually send their thanks in some form. You and your group are WAY too generous! Will keep you updated as we go along and I will certainly look for the package with the binder from the school. Alex From Stephen who is replacing Richard Nancy, Thank you for your interest in our Soldiers here in Afghanistan. I am replacing CSM Wilhelmy and will be on the ground thru the end of the year. I will attempt to answer all of your questions to the best of my ability. Things are changing here and I will keep you up to date as much as I can. I am responsible for about four hundred Soldiers on multiple FOBs. All of which we visit on a regular basis. We will consolidate some boxes and take them with us when we battlefield circulate to ensure that all of our Soldiers have access to your groups care packages. Most if not all locations do have access to microwaves at the moment. As far as the PX is concerned the one here at Kandahar stays pretty well stocked. The other outlying locations are nothing more than tractor trailers. They have the essentials as well as a few luxury items. All electricity that I have seen thus far is 110. Chow hours are on a regular schedule and have not been reduced yet for the draw down, though there are plans in some locations to reduce to two hot meals a day. That will only be a for a short duration. Our Soldiers typically do not have access to the local population. Our aircraft routinely visit these areas but because of security concerns we have little interaction with the populace. Right now all installations have a laundry facility and that will probably not change. For the most part the Soldiers that we have do not go out on extended missions. We are a support unit for the Aviation Brigade. Most standard items can be found here as well as the outlying installations. I think the Soldiers are just happy to receive anything at all from people back in the states. As we receive your packages I will ensure that you get notification of their arrival. Once again thanks again for your support. V/R Steven
