Here are some of the basic life-saving programs ALL shelters should have: A comprehensive volunteer program An effective foster program A network of rescue partners Innovative, aggressive adoption programs Behavior programs that maximize adoptions Medical protocols to reduce disease and keep shelter pets healthy A positive approach to engaging the community in solving pet homelessness While there is no one-size-fits-all model for shelters, every organization should, at a minimum, have these things. Since we all have to pay taxes, dont you want to have a say in what your money is funding? Well guess what? Our tax dollars are funding shelters that do NONE of these. Please share and help raise awareness. Collaboratively, we CAN make change happen.
