Here are some of the topics Council will be discussing at our meeting this Tuesday, May 27 at 7:30pm: - Discussion regarding the role of the Advisory Planning Commission; - Introduction of Smithers new Library Director, Wendy Wright, and a presentation by Friends of the Library regarding digitization of the Interior News; - Presentation by Alexie Stephens, the Towns new Community Recycling Educator; - Staff report recommending that five downtown building owners receive 2014 Storefront Spruceup Grants; - Staff report recommending award of the Fulton Avenue Walkway Phase 2 Contract to Vihar Construction; - Staff report recommending award of the Fall Fairgrounds Accessible Washrooms Contract to Alpha Northwest Construction; - Staff report recommending the award of the 2014 Paved Roads Maintenance contract to LB Paving Ltd.; - Staff report regarding 19th Avenue gravel road paving; - Staff report discussing the concept of a walking track in the new arena and presenting two options for its management; - First and second readings of a Zoning Bylaw amendment to reduce the parking requirement for retail uses in the C1 zone between Railway Ave and Highway 16; - Letter from School District 54 proposing a 10-year joint use agreement that would give SD54 an additional 10 hours of arena use per week (above existing levels), in exchange for a $100,000 contribution to the Town; and - Written requests regarding condition of Astlais Place street, arena renovations, support for Mountain Bike Association fundraising, Open for Business Award, and partying at the sewage treatment plant.
