Here are some stats as a result of the Victoria Long-Weekend traffic initiative: • Impaired Driving-17 Offences for Impaired/Over 80/Care and Control • Occupants are buckled up and children are properly secured- 24 Seatbelt Infractions • Distracted Driving - 36 Distracted Driving Offences • Aggressive Driving - 99 Aggressive Driving Offences • Cyclist Violations - 27 Cyclist Offences • Speeding - 644 Speeding Offences TOTAL OFFENCES for the Initiative: 830 HTA Offences, 17 Criminal Offences The Hamilton Police Support Services Division would like to thank all of those motorists who were in compliance over the Victoria Day Long-Weekend and who contributed to keeping our roads safe. $240 fine and two demerit points. More importantly, by wearing a seatbelt unnecessary deaths and injuries can be prevented. Quick Facts 1. Seatbelt non-compliance draws a fine of $240 and two demerit points. 2. In 2013, the H.P.S. laid a total of 872 charges of seatbelt non-compliance. 3. In 2012, the H.P.S. laid a total of 1,203 charges of seatbelt non-compliance. 4. In 2011, the H.P.S. laid a total of 1,011 charges of seatbelt non-compliance. 5. In 2010, the H.P.S. laid a total of 1,157 charges of seatbelt non-compliance. 6. So far in 2014 the H.P.S. have issued over 200 PON’s for seat belt violations
