Here are some thoughts to consider regarding the EBOLA breakout in Dallas. I believe that this could very well be Dallass Katrina. We are a city that has a church on every corner, but how many churches are praying and interceding on a regular basis? I remember in 2011, we tried to work with several churches, pastors and ministry leaders in DFW to call a citywide prayer gathering on 11-11-11. The majority of pastors were too busy planning their Christmas specials and did not have the time to come and pray. I spoke with the one of the pastoral leaders of the North Texas churches and he told me that pastors are too busy with church events to stop and attend a prayer gathering. This, of course, is not representative of every pastor and every church, but I would venture to say that it does include the vast majority. What is the point of a church on every corner if the church is powerless? If we dont pray, how can we be in tune with God and hear His voice and know His direction? Church, as a whole, has become so entertainment driven, that we have lost sight of Gods original design and pattern. It takes a 911 or Katrina to wake us up! I pray that this EBOLA breakout will not continue to spread in Dallas or our nation, but if things worsen, especially in Dallas, what will the Christians do? Seeker friendly, watered down, motivational and people pleasing messages WILL NOT PROTECT YOU! The real power will only come through a praying church! I live in this city and Im sorry to offend you religious people, but this city is spiritually DEAD! The hunger of people to know God in a deeper, more intimate way is lacking. We have become so contemporary that we dont even know how far away from God we have strayed. We fail to see that we are walking into church services and walking out the same. There is no outpouring of God in our services. We are so scheduled, that we have scheduled God out and we dont even know that He is missing because we are used to doing it our own way for so long. People are so committed to their church that they are willing to overlook the lack of Gods presence because they are more faithful to a church organization than they are to God. CASE IN POINT: I posted a few months ago about a comedian that was coming to a large church in DFW and how it was entertainment. Several people who attend this church emailed me and were very offended because it was their church. They defended this comedian and said that people were being saved because of his message. While I do not argue that point, I do know that in the days of the early church, they didnt need a comedy act to draw people to church. What drew them was the power of the Holy Spirit! Since todays contemporary church is VOID of the power of the Holy Spirit, we have to entice people to come by bringing in someone who can entertain them. Like it or not, this is the present day church that is called LAODICEA. I ask all of you reading this post today to think about what you are reading. Answer these questions for yourself. WHEN is the last time you wept before God in agony for lost souls? WHEN is the last time you were walking through your house and the presence of God overwhelmed you and you fell on your face and cried out to God? WHEN is the last time that the Spirit of God awakened you from your sleep with a Word fresh from Heaven? WHEN is the last time you touched Heaven with your prayers and you knew that you entered the Holy of Holies? WHEN is the last time you experienced a miracle when you prayed? WHEN is the last time you were so hungry to read Gods word that you could not put your Bible down? WHEN is the last time that you could not speak because the presence of God was so heavy around you and words were inadequate? FRIENDS, its time to get real! WE HAVE TO GET REAL about this walk! If God determines that it takes EBOLA to wake us up, then it takes EBOLA! We have had so many warnings from prophetic voices, but have we heeded them? Now we are being faced with a deadly virus that is a threat to national security! What shall we do? Our only protection is to learn to dwell in the secret place of the Most High. Every Christian should memorize Psalm 91 and meditate on it until you live in it. I am going to send a letter to our Governor, Rick Perry, requesting a state-wide call to prayer in regards to this EBOLA outbreak. It will take the supernatural hand to God to stop the spreading of this plague. And we must pray until He answers! sharonbolanyerby
