Here as promised is a little more information on next years production of one of the most famous and beloved plays of all time; ROMEO AND JULIET. Romeo & Juliet is set amid the feud between the Montagues and the Capulets. The intention is to have the Capulets as the head of a large gypsy family, who are camping on the land of the Montagues who are upright Victorian landowners. The prejudice shown by the Montagues towards the gypsies and their inherent belief in their own superiority will contrast with the wild, nomadic nature of the gypsies with their dramatic dancing and magical, mysterious rituals. This contrast will add to the feeling of forbidden love between Romeo and Juliet and bring out the inevitability of the tragedy. There will be sword fighting, gypsy dancing and fortune-telling.
