Here in St. Louis for a $25k SDA Pro Tour doubles squash event. My original partner, Clive Leach, had to withdraw from the event due to an injured groin (leaving me with two days to find a replacement partner before the event started). I went through nearly everyone on the SDA world rankings to find someone who could come to St. Louis and play with me on such short notice, and I couldnt get anybody...so I sent out a post on my general Facebook profile asking for anybody to step up to the plate and become a pro doubles squash player for the event, and I happened to be lucky enough to find someone who could actually play - a local player from the hosting club, Ethan Oetter. I had never met him before, and I certainly wasnt expecting much, but I have to say he did extremely well given the fact it was his first time playing at that pace and he was dealing with 90% of the balls being hit at him. Even though we lost, we managed to make it a close match and even had a brief sniff of a potential victory as we brought it to 12-12 in the 5th/final game (just 3 points from winning). So I have to give a special thanks to Ethan for playing with me in this event (and sparing me from a total loss of income on a non-refundable flight...Ive lost out on plenty of those from that stress-fracture injury in my right foot a few months ago), and congratulations on joining the tour and earning a world ranking (assuming he wanted his prize money & the world ranking)! Here is a replay of the match (note the 4 easy errors I start off with in the first game...Im such a chump sometimes): https://youtube/watch?v=-keKox7yH5I&spfreload=10&noredirect=1 THANKS ETHAN!!!
