Here is Secretary of State Kerrys address to GLIFAA (Gay and Lesbians in Foreign Affairs Agencies) in which he rightly praises one of my friends - and one of my heroes - Robyn Alice McCutcheon who is the first transgender person to lead the organization. Robyn was instrumental in getting the State Department to sponsor my LGBT Rights are Human Rights trip to Romania and Slovenia last summer. I adore and admire Robyn, whom I met when I gave the keynote address to the LGBT Rights are Human Rights conference in Albania a couple of years ago, the first such conference ever sponsored by the US Dept. of State on foreign soil. She gave a remarkable presentation there. Robyn even wrote a column for my first issue of FourTwoNine magazine and it was an honor to have her voice in the magazine. Secretary Kerry also praises another hero and friend of mine in his speech - David Mixner. And I wish I could have been there to hear the address of another of GLIFAAs speakers, Masha Gessen, yet another hero of mine not only for her work as a journalist and writer but also for her advocacy for LGBT rights in Russia. Congratulations, Robyn, for such a great night you hosted. And thank you for all the important work you do. You are a remarkable woman - so kind and smart and generous and brave.
