Here is a brief, albeit invaluable, appraisal of Chief Justice - TopicsExpress

Here is a brief, albeit invaluable, appraisal of Chief Justice John Roberts by my Facebook friend, Ken Ralidis: Roberts is cunning, taking a very long view where he throws some bones (as in the ACA ruling, because he was looking to buttress the commercial theory), getting consensus where in the long run he is able to subtly promote a corporate agenda; do not underestimate him. You can make book on that. John Roberts has been a ringer since Day One. As opposed to Justice Alito, who has douche bag written all over him and who just looks, seems, and acts like a turd, Roberts masquerades as a charming gentleman who has everyones best interests at heart. Right. I remember when he thoroughly fooled Chris Matthews into believing that he was a moderate as he lied his way through his confirmation hearings. (Umpire my ass.) My reaction was: If this guy is a moderate, why was he nominated by George W. Bush, who expressly promised during the 2000 campaign that he would appoint justices in the mold of Scalia and Thomas? Anyway, the only thing I ever agreed with Roberts about was when he said during his final confirmation hearing that his favorite movie is North by Northwest. Come to think of it, maybe that explains his persona. Hes pretending to be as charming and likeable as Cary Grant while he goes about his business of screwing all the poor people in this country.
